Women's Volleyball Falls to Chowan

Murfreesboro, N.C.--  The University of Mount Olive fell to the Hawks of Chowan University 3-0 in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday Night. This loss takes the Trojans to 5-6 overall and 0-1 in conference.

1st Set
The Trojans had a great start to set one by taking three straight points from the Hawks with kills by, Alyssa Jackson, Starr Sergent and Ele'Sia Williams. The Hawks answered back with four straight points until they were stopped by Amara Eziakonwa with a kill, tying the score at  4-4. UMO and the Hawks were point for point until Chowan found some momentum and went on a three point run taking a lead 9-7. The Trojans did not seem have an answer for the Hawk offense as they took a six point run to extend the lead to 16-9. A kill from Eziakonwa brought UMO back into the game at 18-12. Mount Olive, however, was not able to hold on as the Hawks took set one 25-16.

2nd Set
Chowan and the Trojans were back and forth in the second set until the Hawks took a five-point run resulting in a score of 10-5. UMO took a two-point run off errors from Chowan and trailed 10-7. After two kills from Eziakonwa and one from Ashlyn Stone, the Trojans took a three-point run, to move behind the Hawks 18-15. The Trojan offense was not able to overcome the deficit, dropping the set 25-21.

3rd Set
UMO's recorded the first point for the Trojans in set three with a kill from Jenna Myer. Another kill from Mount Olive, made the deficit 4-3. UMO and Chowan exchanged points until a Hawk kill allowed Chowan to take control. A kill from Jackson brought the Trojans within two points of the Hawks 10-8. Eziakonwa kept Mount Olive in the set with a kill sending the score to 18-12. Mount Olive was not able to answer to the Hawks, as they fell in set three 25-15.
