Box Score FLORENCE, SC – The University of Mount Olive women's soccer team defended their Conference Carolinas title as they defeated the Crusaders of North Greenville University 1-0 in the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship in Florence, SC. Jasmine Pinter once again guided the No. 3 seed Mount Olive (8-2-0) over No. 1 seed NGU (8-2-1) in the finals of the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championships on Sunday afternoon.

Game Information
Makenna Copley took the Trojan's first shot of the afternoon in the seventeenth minute that just missed high of the goal. The Trojans and Crusaders, however, were in a deadlock battle for most of the first half. The intensity and physicality of the game progressed as the time ticked by. NGU took their first corner kick of the game with eight minutes left, but the Trojans fended off the Crusaders' shot made by Faith Knoedler.  UMO's Nichole Solicito and NGU's Maggie Schopp were tested through the first half, proving they deserved to be in the finals by concluding the first 45 minutes with clean sheets. Going into the break, the Trojans trailed in shots, 4-3, as the score remained 0-0.

The Trojans continued to push early in the second half,  as Jaelyn Brown found Jasmine Pinter, as she recorded the scoreless breaking goal making it her third goal of the weekend in the first five minutes into the second period. The Crusaders' and Trojans' defense and goalkeeping were immaculate, shutting down a both squads, as UMO had five shots on goal, compared to the Crusaders' three. Mount Olive continued to excel throughout the reminder of the contest. NGU's Jada Patrick recorded one final shot in the 82nd minute, but the Trojans did not allow an equalizer and the final horn sounded, and with it UMO had defended their Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship tittle.

"I am so proud of this group of young women. Winning a championship under normal conditions is hard. Winning a championship in a COVID year is another animal entirely. The girls had to battle pauses, lockdowns, COVID protocol, and a conference determined to ensure we did not repeat as champions. This is a special special group." says Coach Saber.

Trojan Leaders
