Trojans Softball Drops Pair of Games to Barton College

WILSON, N.C. - The Trojans took on the Barton Bulldogs in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. Mount Olive dropped both games, 8-0 and 6-2, respectively.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
After a clean first inning for both teams, the Bulldogs got the scoring started in the second inning by exploding for five runs on two hits, taking a 5-0 lead. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning, the Bulldogs scored two more times with a shot to left center. Giving the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead through three innings. 

With two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth inning, Barton scored another run courtesy of an RBI single to right center. Taking game one, 8-0 in six innings. 

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the second inning. With neither team plating a run in the first inning, Barton scored five runs, taking a commanding lead, and going on to win the game, 8-0.

TROJANS LEADERS
Cana Shrock collected a hit for the Trojans in game one.

BULLDOGS LEADERS
Sidney Gronowski had three RBI on two hits.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
Similar to game one, neither team could get anything going in the first inning. Unlike game one though, it was the Trojans who struck first in the second inning. With Cassandra Lassiter on base, Hannah Killough sent a SAC fly to right field, scoring Lassiter and giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead. Madison Morgan got on base with a single to lead off the fifth inning for the Trojans. Morgan's at bat was followed by Emma Mooney hitting a single, getting two Trojans on base with no outs. Following a SAC bunt by Courtlynn Cooney, moving Morgan and Mooney to scoring position, Kylie Emanuele singled home Morgan, giving the Trojans a 2-0 lead. 

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bulldogs responded. Second baseman Emily Bell sent a shot over the right field wall, bringing the Bulldogs within one of the lead, 2-1. One batter later, Sloane Correa hit a homerun, this one too, over the right field wall, tying the game at two. The Bulldogs took the lead, and ultimately the win in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring four runs, 6-2.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Bulldogs scored four runs, taking the lead 6-2.

Kylie Emanuele had a hit and an RBI.

The Trojans return to action at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field this Saturday, April 10th, against Southern Wesleyan for Senior Day. First pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.
