Trojans Softball Drops Doubleheader to Georgia College Bobcats

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Trojans were back in action after a ten day hiatus. Competing at home against Georgia College in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Trojans dropped both games.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
Both pitchers, Hailey Kessinger for the Trojans and MacKenzie Michels for the Bobcats, were dialed in to begin the game. Both throwing three scoreless frames with Kessinger only allowing one hit. In the top of the fourth Kessinger got the Bobcats opening hitter to groundout. With three runners on base the Bobcats offense broke through. Sadie Waters doubled to right field, scoring two runners. One batter later, with two outs, Ashley Schell doubled to left center, scoring another two runners and giving the Bobcats a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Trojans' Madison Morgan doubled to right field getting on base. After advancing to third base on a ground ball, Morgan would find home plate when Cana Shrock hit a SAC fly, getting the Trojans on the board, 4-1.

With a runner on first and second with one out in the top of the sixth inning, Ho singled home a run making the lead 5-1. With two runners still on base Katelyn Hobb hit a homerun, extending the Bobcats lead to 8-1. In the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded and the Trojans needing a spark Morgan singled through the infield scoring Megan Bryant. That at bat was followed up by Kylie Emanuele ripping a double, scoring two more Trojans, making the score 8-4. Cassandra Lassiter put a ball into play, reaching on a fielders choice while scoring Morgan. The attempted comeback would stop there though, as the Trojans fell 8-5.

BOBCATS LEADERS
Katelyn Hobbs had three RBIs for the Bobcats.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the sixth inning. With the Trojans down just three, the Bobcats scored four runs, extending their lead to 8-1.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
Carrying momentum from game one the Bobcats offense jumped out to an early lead, scoring thee runs on five hits in inning one. In the bottom of the first Emma Cooney tripled with one out. Kylie Emanuele hit her in with a groundball to the shortstop, making the score 3-1, Bobcats. In the top of the second inning the Bobcats added three more runs, extending their lead to 6-1. A scoreless third inning went by when the Bobcats scored another run in the fourth making the score 7-1. With two runners on in the top of the fifth inning Lauren Sommerer singled home a run followed by Samantha Vinson singling to shortstop singling in two more runs, making the Bobcats lead 10-1. In the bottom of the fifth inning Emma Mooney scored on a passed ball, followed by Cana Shrock hitting home Courtlynn Cooney, making the score 10-3. The Bobcats added four more runs in the sixth inning, going on to win the game 14-3.

BOBCATS LEADERS
Samantha Vinson collected eight RBIs.

KEY MOMENT
In the second inning the Bobcats scored three runs, taking the score from 3-1 to 6-1.

The Trojans are back in action, Thursday, March 11th, at 1/3 pm vs UNC Pembroke in a doubleheaders at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field.
