MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Trojans were back in action today at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field against the Catawba College Indians. Mount Olive lost both games of the doubleheader.
GAME ONE INFORMATION
Action got underway at 2pm. Trojans Pitcher
Mallory Ratcliff was in the circle for her second start of the young season. Catawba got on the board first in the second inning, courtesy of an RBI single up the middle from Lexi Bryant. The Trojans offense came to life in the third inning.
Madison Morgan ripped a double to left, scoring
Emma Mooney and
Heather Childress, to give the Trojans a 2-1 lead. Their lead would get erased in the top of the fourth inning when the Indians scored three runs to take back the lead, 4-2, with Brittany Ireland, Allie Baker and Lexi Bryant each collecting an RBI. The Trojans attempted to mount a comeback in the sixth inning when
Hannah Burress singled home
Cassandra Lassiter but it fell short, resulting in a 4-3 loss for the Trojans.
TROJAN LEADERS
Madison Morgan collected two hits while batting in two teammates.
Hannah Burress finished game one with an RBI.
CATAWBA LEADERS
Lexi Bryant had three hits and two RBIs in game one.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the first game was in the 4th inning when the Indians offense exploded for three runs and never looked back. Going on to win 4-3.
GAME TWO INFORMATION
Game two began with a quick first inning. Scoring got underway in the second inning when
Cana Shrock and
Emma Mooney each batted in a run to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead. The Trojans would hold on to their 2-0 lead through the fifth inning on the back of pitcher
Hannah Killough. It wasn't until the sixth inning when the Indians offesne began clicking. Carlee Brawley hit a RBI double followed by Gracie Gibson sending a two RBI single through the left side to give the Indians a 3-2 lead. Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning
Hannah Killough helped herself out by singling to right field, scoring
Madison Morgan. Her at bat was followed by
Cassandra Lassiter batting in
Kylie Emanuele to take a 4-3 lead. Heading to the 7th inning with the Trojans feeling confident and ready to close out the game with a win, the Indians had other plans. Sydney Goertzen singled in a run, Carlee Brawley sent a ball out to right field which found its way dropping on the ground scoring another Indian, lastly Riley Tucker scored another run by sending a ball straight back up the middle, extending Catawba's lead to 6-4. The Trojans went three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh inning, losing the game 6-4.

Cassandra Lassiter had two hits and an RBI in game two to help the Trojans cause.
CATAWBA LEADERS
Carlee Brawley collected two RBIs in game two to help secure the win for the Indians.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the top of the seventh inning when the Indians combined for three runs to take a 6-4 lead and went on to win.
