Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Olive Trojans women's volleyball team opened their 2021 season this Sunday afternoon against Conference Carolinas opponent Emmanuel College. Losing in four sets, 3-1.
GAME INFORMATION
The Lions jumped out to an early lead in their home opener. During set one the Lions had an 11-6 lead. The Trojans responded with a kill from
Mia Dietz and an ace to bring the Trojans within three but that's as close as the Trojans would get, losing set one, 25-17. The Trojans battled back in set two. With a Trojans lead of 8-4, the team went on a 6-0 run, extending their lead to 14-4. The two teams battled back and forth until the Trojans scored three unanswered points, extending their lead by 11, 21-10. Ultimately taking the set 25-14 with ten kills. Set three was a close one with back and forth action. The Trojans were trailing by only two points, 11-13 when the Lions went on a 3-0 run, making their lead 16-11. Not to be outdone, the Trojans went on a 4-0 run of their own, sparked by a block from
Amara Eziakonwa, bringing the score to 16-15. The Lions outscored the Trojans 9-5 down the stretch to take the win in set three, 25-20. Looking to close out the match in set four, the Lions did just that. Opening the set with four unanswered points, putting the Trojans behind early.
Mia Dietz would put an end to the run with a kill, just for the Lions to score another four unanswered points, extending their lead to 8-1. The Trojans made it close by scoring an unanswered five points, bringing the score to 11-8. The Lions scored the next nine out of the ten points, making the score 20-9. The Lions went on to win the set 25-13 and the match 3-1.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in set three. With the Trojans behind by just two points, 13-11, the Lions scored three unanswered points extending their lead, 16-11. The Lions won the set and increased their lead to 2-1.
