No. 14 Mount Olive Sweeps Coker In Sunday Doubleheader

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The No. 14 University of Mount Olive baseball team defeated Coker University (NC) 14-0/6-4 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Scarborough Field. UMO improves to 3-0 overall, while Coker falls to 0-4.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
The Trojans started game one off in style as Gunner Tolston blasted a three-run shot in the bottom of the first to propel the University of Mount Olive to an early advantage. Scoring remained quite until the fifth when Stephen Baughan singled home Dusty Baker. Zach Smith's RBI-single extended the lead to 5-0 to end the scoring in the fifth.  The sixth inning proved to be the final deciding blow as UMO pushed home six runs, highlighted by a Jack Casbarro two RBI-single, and the Trojans led 10-0. Mount Olive went on to add four more runs en route to the shutout.

TROJAN LEADERS
Gunner Tolston led the team with five RBI on his 2-fo-3 day including two walks. Reed Parris (1-0) recorded his first win on the season going six complete allowing three hits and struck out nine.

COKER LEADERS 
Lybrand had two hits in game one for the Cobras.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the first game was in the 1st inning when Tolston's homerun put the momentum with the Trojans and they never reliquished it. 

GAME TWO INFORMATION
Game two had a different tail as Coker came out with the early lead after the third on an RBI single. The Cobras added another run in the fourth and took the cushion to 2-0. Matt Stokes helped lower the deficit with an bases-loaded walk to push home a run. Baughan helped come through again in game two as his RBI-double tied the game at two in the fifth. In the sixth the long ball came alive once again as both Casbarro and Baker hit shots to put UMO in front 5-2. One final home run came off the bat of Tolston in the seventh and that was ll the offense UMO had on the day as they led 6-2. Coker made the game close adding a run in the eighth and ninth but the Trojans were able to hault the Cobras attack and sweep the series.

TROJAN LEADERS
Baker led the team with two RBI. Caleb Irwin (1-0) picked up the win in relief going three complete allowing one run off a hit and struck out four. Will Abbott (SV:!) finished the final two innings and got the save his first on the season striking out four as well.

COKER LEADERS
Hall collected an RBI in game two to help led the way for the Cobras.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the bottom of the sixth when two home runs accumulated to three runs for the Trojans, which put them a head for good.

ON DECK
The Mount Olive Trojans hit the road for the first time this season, Friday, February 26, in Central, S.C. against the Southern Wesleyan Warriors.
