MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team defeated the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 78-75 on Friday. This win takes the Trojans to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in Conference. 

INSIDE THE SCORE

Belmont Abbey took the first two points to open the contest 2-0 with 19:43 left in the half. Midway through the half, UMO had a nine-point lead 18-9 with 10:45 remaining in the half. UMO never relinquished the lead and went into halftime up by eight 42-34.

The second half saw the Crusaders score the first two points with a jump shot 36-42 with 19:20 remaining. UMO increased their lead to 13, 57-44 with 13:35 remaining. The Crusaders delivered off Trojan errors and came within one of Mount Olive 66-65 with 5:24 remaining. The Trojans remained in the lead for the remainder of the contest and took home the three-point victory 78-75.

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS

Alan Treakle led the Trojans with 23 points and four rebounds, while Trayvon Ferrell took home eight rebounds. 

CRUSADERS LEADERS

The Crusaders were led by Sean Halloran with 27 points.

KEY STAT

The Trojans capitalized on points off turnovers as they had 23 while the Crusaders had 12.
