Women's Volleyball Ends Post-Season run in the Quarter Finals of the Conference Carolinas Championship

Franklin Springs, Ga.--  The University of Mount Olive fell to the Lions of Emmanuel College in straight sets in the 1/4 Finals of the Conference Carolinas Championship on Tuesday. This loss ends their season at 15-14 overall and 10-9 in Conference.  

1st Set

UMO had a slow start allowing the Lions to jump out in front 6-3. Later, the Trojans took a three-point run with a kill from Ashlyn Stone 14-10. UMO could not find an answer for the Lions as Emmanuel took set one 25-15.

2nd Set 

Mount Olive had a strong start jumping out to a 2-1 lead with a kill from Alyssa Jackson. Later, the dominating Trojan offense took a five-point run and took the lead 13-12. The two teams were back and forth, but not until the Lions offense took over and won set two 29-27.

3rd Set

Starting set three, UMO fell 6-4. With all of the momentum, the Trojans took a three-point lead 16-13 with a kill from Starr Sergent. UMO could not answer to the Lions offense again, as Emmanuel took set three and the match 26-24.

COACHES COMMENTS
"Great Season! Continuing to get better, naturally disappointing when it comes to an end. But a fantastic team and lots to be proud of,". said Head Coach Emma Celentano.

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Ashlyn Stone led the Trojans with 7 kills. 
Madison Goodman had 14 assists and Morgan Prots had 17 digs. 

LIONS LEADER
Aleksandra Hamuda led the Lions with 15 kills.  

UP NEXT
The Trojan season comes to an end with the loss and UMO will begin preparations for the 2022 season.
