Box Score Florence, S.C. --- The University of Mount Olive Women's Soccer program (15-1-2) came up short over second-seeded UNC Pembroke (15-4-0) in the finals of the Conference Carolinas Championship, Sunday afternoon at the Florence Soccer Complex in Florence, S.C.
INSIDE THE SCORE:
The finals of the women's soccer conference championships started UNC Pembroke grabbing the early lead in the 12th minute. The Braves continued to extend their lead in the 35th minute. The 2-0 lead held for the UNCP as the Trojans had some work to begin a comeback. The Trojans were out shot 13-to-6 in the opening frame.
The second half was not much better for UMO as they were able to record only three shots. UNC Pembroke put the final nail down with a third goal in the 77th minute, Alexis Pittman scoring her second goal of the contest.
Mount Olive recorded one final shot in the last seconds of the game, but ultimately fell 3-0.
At the conclusion of the championships,
Ashley Lindsay,
Taylor Lewis, and
Shaunalee Govia were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Mount Olive Leaders:
Two Trojans tied with two shots;
Jasmine Pinter and
Nya Baccelli.
UNC Pembroke Leaders:
The Braves were led by Alexis Pittman with two goals.
Whats Next:
The Trojans will now await a possible selection in the NCAA Division II Championship next week. The selection show is scheduled for Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
