WILSON, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team fell short to the Cougars of Columbus State University 88-67 on Saturday in Wilson during the 45-Second Classic. This loss takes the Trojans to 0-2 overall. 

INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive took a five-point deficit to open up the contest down 7-2 with 16:23 left in the half. The Trojans took the lead 8-7 with 16:17 left in the first half with a three-pointer from Trayvon Ferrell. After that final lead change the Cougars took control for the remainder of the half, heading into halftime with a five-point lead over the Trojans 36-31.

The second half saw the Trojans score the first two points of the half. The Cougars responded quickly with a five-point run 41-33 in the favor of Columbus State with 18:51 remaining in the game. The Cougars found their momentum as they led the rest of the game. Columbus State took home the 21 point victory over the Trojans.

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
Alan Treakle led the Trojans with 18 points and 4 steals while Matthias Caver took home 7 rebounds.

COUGARS LEADERS
The Cougars were led by Langston Gaither with 30 points.

KEY STAT
The Trojans mistakes certainly cost them as 18 of the Jaguars points came off turnovers.

 "Columbus is a very talented team. We have to continue to work and get a complete 40 minute game. Got a big week ahead and a lot of things to work on!" said head coach Joey Higginbotham.
