Box Score WILSON, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team fell to the Bulldogs of Barton College 74-63 in Conference Carolinas action Thursday night. UMO falls to 2-5 overall and 2-5 in conference, while Barton improves to 3-2, 3-2.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The Mount Olive Trojans started the contest on top and took control on a 7-0 run to take a 7-0 lead with 17:56 remaining. Mount Olive continued to build on their lead and used a 12-10 run to move ahead by nine midway through the half. The Bulldogs would break the deficit with a 13-2 run to take the lead 23-21 with 7:30 remaining in the first half. Both teams started battling it out but the Bulldogs were able to slightly pull away to take the lead 34-32 to end the half.
The second half started with Matthias Caver's layup to tie the game 34-34, with 19:43 remaining in the game. Both teams continued to go back and forth over the next fifteen minutes, and neither team pulled ahead by more than five points. Barton took the lead for good at the 5:38 mark as they went on a 13-3 run and maintained control and took the 74-63 victory.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Johnny Hughes III with 21 points. Alan Treakle had double-digit scoring performance with 10 points respectively.
BARTON LEADERS
The Bulldogs were led by Isaiah Reddish with 22 points.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came midway through the second half when Barton broke the game's sixth tie for good and maintained control of the lead for the remainder of the contest.
