MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. ---The University of Mount Olive released the 2021 spring sport schedules this week. All sports will play reduced schedules to help combat the complexity of all 22 UMO-sponsored sports playing in the spring semester, as well as to help face the extra challenges imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020-21 spring sport seasons will have some unique features:
- No spectators will be allowed at any home athletic events, at least for the month of January. This policy will be reviewed as the spring sports seasons move forward. Webcasts of home athletic events will be available free of charge on the Trojans Sports Network.
- Volleyball: Men's and women's volleyball will be playing several doubleheaders against conference opponents. For those home contests, the men's match will occur at the scheduled time or an hour after the conclusion of the women's match, whichever is later.
"The spring semester will be a challenge logistically, with all of our sports competing while the coronavirus pandemic is on-going, but we are looking forward to providing our student-athletes with the best possible athletics experience, while keeping their safety and well-being at the forefront," remarked Vice President for Athletics
Jeff Eisen.
