Quinton Upshur Named Director Of Student-Athlete Development

Mount Olive, N.C. - Quinton Upshur has been named the Director of Student-Athlete Development. by Jeff Eisen, Vice President for Athletics, it was announced today.

"I am super excited to become a member of the Trojan family, and I look forward to working with the student-athletes and making an impact in any way I can," said Upshur.

Upshur's role will see him working with community service opportunities, assisting with academic support, offer leadership training and life skills, and other personal development areas.

"Quinton comes to Mount Olive with a great deal of knowledge and a background in student development. He has had the opportunity to gain experience at different levels within athletics and I am thrilled for him to bring those experiences to UMO. We are fortunate to have Quinton join our staff and help develop and prepare our student-athletes for life after college," said Associate Director of Athletics Dr. LaToya Lindsey.

Before arriving at Mount Olive, Upshur served as a graduate assistant for the student-athlete development department at the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC). Upshur earned his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice at Northern Arizona University where he was a member of the Lumberjacks basketball program, earning all-conference honors two times, as well as all-tournament and was named the Big Sky Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Year. He then went onto earn his masters in Sport Administration from Liberty University and is pursuing a second masters in Positive Coaching Athletic Leadership from UMC.

Upshur also played five seasons of professional basketball in Portugal, Sweden, and Belgium where he averaged 12.4 points per game and 47.92% from the field.
