Augusta, Ga. - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team opened their season with a pair of losses on day one of the Jaguar Rumble Tournament hosted by Augusta University in Augusta, Ga.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Play-by-Play

FIRST SET

• The opening set began with the Falcons taking an early 8-2 lead over the Trojans.
• Following a UMO timeout, the Trojans climbed within four points putting the score at 10-6 in Montevallo's favor.
• Montevallo went on a 9-4 run taking a 19-10 lead over Mount Olive.
• The Trojans kicked it into gear going on an 11-4 rally pulling within two points, 23-21 of the Falcons.
• Montevallo closed out the set with the final two points to win 25-21.

SECOND SET

• Set two began more evenly as the Falcons held on to a one-point lead, 8-7, through the first half of the set.
• UMO called a timeout as Montevallo took a 12-7 lead, but the Trojans came out to score four straight points to trail 12-11 forcing Montevallo to call timeout.
• The teams remained neck and neck through the middle of the set with the score sitting at 17-16, but Montevallo went on an 8-0 run taking set two 25-16. 

THIRD SET

• The Trojans came out of the gate ready to go as they took an early 6-2 lead over the Falcons to start the third set.
• UMO held their lead increasing it to six points, 12-6, following two kills, one by Kamber Skeen and Ania Keene, and four Montevallo errors.
• A 6-4 run put the Trojans up by eight points, 18-10, after three kills, two Falcon errors and a service ace by Keene.
• Montevallo came back within two points, 18-16 on a 6-0 run following their own timeout.
• Gentry Benda recorded a kill giving the Trojans a 19-16 lead, but the Falcons fought back on a 9-0 run to win the third set 25-19 and the match 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Play-by-Play

FIRST SET

• Augusta started the match taking a 7-1 lead right out the gate.
• UMO came back to trail 9-7 after a kill by Cyerra Carter pulled the Trojans within two.
• The Jaguars of Augusta went on a 7-1 run to take an eight-point lead 16-8.
• Mount Olive scored a pair of points putting the score at 16-10, but Augusta closed out the first set on a 9-3 rally to win 25-13.

SECOND SET

• The Jaguars dominated the second set defeating the Trojans 25-3. UMO's only points came from two kills, one each from Ania Keene and Dejaré Cumberbatch, and a service ace from Michaela Seawell.

THIRD SET

• The third set started off competitively as the Jaguars held a slight 7-5 lead over the Trojans through the opening serves.
• Augusta's lead quickly grew to 16-8 following a 9-3 rally.
• Mount Olive responded with an 8-3 run of their own closing Augusta's lead to three points, 19-16.
• Despite the Trojans efforts they fell just short as the Jaguars closed out the set to win 25-19 and the match 3-0.
