University of Mount Olive dropped a pair of matches on the opening day of the Francis Marion University Women's Volleyball Invitational Friday at Florence, S.C. The Trojans fell to West Alabama 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 in the opener, then fell to tournament host Francis Marion 25-16, 25-13, 25-17.

Cali Watson led the Trojans with six kills in each match. Casey Fiechter had eight digs and two aces against West Alabama, while Watson, Montgomery Register and Sarah Watkins recorded two blocks apiece against Francis Marion.

Mount Olive concludes play Saturday with two more matches. The Trojans take on Alabama-Huntsville at 11 a.m., then face Georgia College at 7 p.m.
