Box Score Two goals in a span of 40 seconds late in the second half broke open a close match as University of Mount Olive fell to UNC Pembroke 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer Wednesday at Pembroke, N.C. The loss snapped the Trojans' six-match unbeaten streak.
Nicole Poppe led Mount Olive (7-5-2) with 10 shots in the match but UNC Pembroke's (7-7-0) offense proved to be too much as the Braves tacked on three goals in a five minute run late in the second half. The Trojans matched the opposition's shots on goal with four, but was unable to find the back of the net in those possessions.
Mount Olive did not surrender the game's first goal until the 20th minute of the first half. The Trojans had an opportunity to prevent a shutout in the 83rd minute but a shot from the top of the box found the Braves' keeper.
Mount Olive remains on the road and will travel to Gaffney, S.C. to take on Conference Carolinas foe Limestone. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
