A goal in the 68th minute was the difference as Mount Olive fell to USC Aiken 1-0 in non-conference men's soccer Saturday at Amon Field. The loss was the Trojans' third this season by a single goal.

Mount Olive (0-7-0) was held to two shots for the match, both in the first half, but narrowly missed getting on the scoreboard late in the first half when Josh Woodburn drilled a shot from just above the box in the 39th minute. The ball was on frame just below the crossbar, but USC Aiken's 6-foot-5 goalkeeper Joshua Poissant tipped ball over the goal to keep the match scoreless going into halftime.

USC Aiken (3-4-1) broke the deadlock when Armin Lange crossed from the left wing to Austin Ahimbisibwe in the box. Trojan goalkeeper Aleksandar Drobac challenged, but Ahimbisibwe was able to slip free and put the ball home at the 67:46 mark.

The Trojans had one last desperation opportunity after a Pacer foul just inside midfield with 16 seconds left. Mount Olive brought everyone forward, but USC Aiken was able to clear the service out of the box and held the ball as time expired.

Drobac finished with five saves on 12 USC Aiken shots. Poissant recorded saves on both Trojan shots.

Mount Olive returns to action Wednesday as the Trojans travel to Hartsville, S.C., to take on former Conference Carolinas member Coker in a non-conference match-up. Match time is 7 p.m.
