Box Score 1 Mount Olive overcame a one-set deficit, but the rally came up short as the Trojans fell to Mary (N.D.) 25-19, 23-25, 26-24, 25-18 in the final match of the 2013 Mount Olive College Women's Invitational Saturday at Kornegay Arena. Lauren Lee led the Trojans with a season-high 10 kills, while Alysha Tyms-Burnett and Carly White added nine kills apiece. White also had a match-high six blocks.
Mount Olive (0-7) opened play Friday with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-15 loss to Alabama-Huntsville. White recorded 10 kills for the Trojans, while Nicole Sparks led the Trojans defensively with 20 digs. Saturday, Mount Olive fell to Armstrong 25-15, 25-20, 25-15. Lee paced the Trojans with seven kills.
Armstrong posted a 3-0 record in the tournament, adding a three-set win over Mary Friday and a four-set win in over Alabama-Huntsville in Saturday's opening match. Mary rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Alabama-Huntsville in five sets to finish with a 2-1 record. Alabama-Huntsville went 1-2 in the tournament.
Mount Olive returns to action Tuesday as the Trojans travel to Elizabeth City, N.C., to take on Elizabeth City State in a non-conference match-up. Match time is 6 p.m.
