Trojans Fall To Coker 4-0

Box Score

Aleksandar Drobac recorded a career-high 10 saves and took a shutout into the second half, but a pair of goals in a five-minute span early in the second half broke a scoreless tie as Mount Olive fell to Coker 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer Wednesday at Hartsville, S.C. Drobac's 10 saves marked the Trojans' first double-digit performance since current teammate Kyle Lavender performed the feat two years ago.

Mount Olive (0-7-0) withstood a 14-shot attack in the opening 45 minutes to forge a 0-0 halftime tie for the second consecutive match. Coker (3-2-2) ended Drobac's bid for his first collegiate shutout just over two minutes into the second half when Daniel Jackson scored the first of his three goals. Jackson scored again at the 52:27 mark to extend Coker's lead to 2-0 and completed his hat trick at 70:10. The Cobras added a goal in the 84th minute.

The Trojans were outshot 28-9 for the match.

Lavender recorded 12 saves in 100 minutes in an overtime match against Lees-McRae October 15, 2011.

Mount Olive resumes Conference Carolinas action and joins in the fight against cancer Saturday as the Trojans play host to Pfeiffer. All of Saturday's home athletics contests are part of Cancer Awareness Day as the Trojan men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball and softball teams raise money and awareness in the battle against cancer. Funds raised will go to Southeastern Cancer Care, a Goldsboro-based organization that provides care and resources for cancer patients in Eastern North Carolina. Match time is 4 p.m. at Amon Field.
