Men's Soccer Falls To Erskine 4-1

Box Score

Aleksandar Drobac recorded a career-high 12 saves, but Mount Olive had to play the entire second half two men down as the Trojans fell to conference unbeaten Erskine 4-1 in Conference Carolinas men's soccer Saturday at Due West, S.C. Bright Eto scored the first goal of the match for Mount Olive before Erskine broke away from a 1-1 halftime tie.

Mount Olive (2-12-0 overall, 1-6-0 Conference Carolinas) took a 1-0 lead at the 13:54 mark when Eto flicked a shot past the Flying Fleet goalkeeper. The goal was Eto's team-leading third of the season.

Drobac appeared to have a save on Jonathan Rutter's penalty kick at the 22:26 mark, but he was ruled to have come off his line. Rutter converted on the second attempt as Erskine (8-4-1, 5-0-0) evened the match.

Mount Olive went down a man after the 22:44 mark when a Trojan player was issued two yellow cards in a span of 20 seconds, the first coming between pk attempts and the second shortly after Erskine scored on the penalty kick. A second Trojan player received a straight red card at 37:34, forcing Mount Olive to play 9-on-11 for the remainder of the match.

Despite the disadvantage, Mount Olive stayed even until the 60th minute when Jack Power's goal put Erskine ahead to stay. The Flying Fleet added a pair of goals in a three-minute span starting in the 76th minute. Erskine outshot the Trojans 25-7.

Mount Olive plays its fourth match in seven days Monday as the Trojans travel to Pembroke, N.C., to take on UNC Pembroke in non-conference action. Match time is 7 p.m.
