Carly White recorded her career-high 24th kill on match point as Mount Olive withstood a rally for a 25-11, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20 victory over Converse in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Tuesday at Kornegay Arena. White also had eight blocks, including five solo blocks. Dezirae Mackey added 14 kills and three blocks, while Lauren Lee served five of the Trojans' eight aces.

Mount Olive (8-12 overall, 5-5 Conference Carolinas) led 13-12 in the fourth set when White had a kill and two blocks and Lee served a pair of aces during a 5-0 run to give the Trojans some breathing room. White's kill at 14-12 tied her career best as Mount Olive went on to build the lead to as many as seven points. After Converse (4-17, 4-6) saved two match points, White took a short set from Nicole Karas and pounded home the match winner and her personal best.

The Trojans trailed 8-7 in the first set before a 12-1 run gave Mount Olive a double-digit lead. White accounted for seven points during the run with three kills and four blocks. Lee served back-to-back aces and Sarah Watkins had kills on three of Mount Olive's final six points as the Trojans took the opening set.

Mount Olive built a 19-13 lead in the second set before aces by Katie Butler and Ashley Biggs helped Converse rally to within 22-21. The two teams exchanged a series of side outs before Mackey's cross-court kill from the right side gave the Trojans a two-set lead.

Converse led 17-13 in the third set after a pair of kills by Biggs highlighted a four-point Valkyrie run to break a 13-13 tie. Mackey had seven kills in the third set, three coming during a 5-1 run to give Mount Olive a 21-19 lead. But Converse came back with five unanswered points as Jenna Martin served an ace and Biggs added a pair of kills. Mackey's kill saved a set point, but Meg Taylor's kill kept the Valkyries alive and sent the match to a fourth set.

White had only five errors in 38 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, while Mackey recorded only three errors in 27 attempts for a .407 hitting percentage. Mount Olive compiled a .306 hitting percentage as a team. After being held to a .214 hitting percentage in the third set, the Trojans hit at a .480 clip in the fourth set. Lee and Watkins added seven kills apiece.

Karas finished with a season-high 50 assists, marking the fourth time in her two-year career she has reached the 50-assist mark. Charnel Austin tallied 14 digs, while Lee added 11 digs.

Butler led Converse with 14 kills and four aces, while Biggs added 11 kills. Martin recorded 24 assists and Aubrey Crosby led the Valkyries defensively with a match-high 21 digs. Scottie Kay Auton added four blocks.

Tuesday's win gives Mount Olive a sweep over Converse in the regular season series.

Mount Olive is idle until October 23 when the Trojans play host to Barton in Conference Carolinas action. Match time is 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
