Mount Olive's Daisy Thomas scored her third goal in four matches, and fellow freshman Carolin Edenhofner recorded her second consecutive shutout as the Trojans blanked Conference Carolinas rival Barton 1-0 Wednesday night in Wilson, N.C.

Bulldog goalkeeper Carson Moore withstood the Trojans' attack for much of the contest. Early in the second period, that changed when Thomas received a pass in the box from Carlee Bock and she delivered her fourth goal of the season. It was Bock's first assist.

That was all the offense Edenhofner needed. She saved both shots Barton attempted on goal. Mount Olive (4-7-1 overall, 3-4-0 CC) outshot Barton by match's end 14-2. For Edenhofner, she picked up her third shutout, including a 4-0 win over Chowan last week. In her last four matches, Mount Olive keepers have allowed two goals total.

She was challenged early on by Barton. She jumped on a ball before Taylor Parrish could get off a shot on a breakaway in the 11th minute. Edenhofner's second save came off the opening kick of the second period when she grabbed Parrish' 20-yard attempt.

Thomas' goal in the 64th minute was made difficult by a Barton double-team. She spun to find a path to the net and beat Moore.

The Trojans will look to continue their winning ways when Converse travels to Amon Field Saturday night at 7 p.m.
