  • Title
    Voice of the Trojans

"Sugar" Shane Aube has been apart of the Mount Olive community for over 20 years and has served as the Voice of the Trojans since 2006. Aube is a 1994 Alumnus of Mount Olive and graduated with a Bachelors in Visual Communications and Business.

While at UMO (Mount Olive College at the time) Aube was the public address announcer for sporting events, was a part of the first sports information staff, and was the sports editor of the yearbook.

Aube has been involved with Wayne County in several different aspects including being a radio announcer for WGBR 1150 AM Goldsboro from 1990-95. He then went on to sell life insurance for both TransAmerica & AIG from 1996-2013. Following a stint at Curtis Media Group in radio sales from 2013-16, Aube took the Marketing Director position for Matthews Motors Auto Group in 2016. He now sells insurance at Direct Auto in Goldsboro.

Continuing to serve the community the Mount Olive grad has offered his public addressing service to several teams in Wayne County including the Mount Olive Hurricanes since 2009, Wayne County American Legion baseball since 2006, and public addressing for several high school teams including Goldsboro High School and Wayne Country Day School.

Shane has also been the public address announcer for the NCAA DII Baseball National Championship in Cary, N.C. since 2009. Aube can be heard announcing Mount Olive athletics contests in baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball.

One of Aube's fondest memories was the ability to do the public address at Scarborough Field from 2006 to 2013 for UMO baseball and American Legion baseball alongside his father Ray Aube who faithfully ran the scoreboard for every play during that time. A microphone engraved in memory of Ray Aube is permanently in place in the press box and is the official microphone used for all PA at Scarborough Field.
