Chip Spiron

Chip Spiron returned to his alma mater in fall 2002 to become Mount Olive’s head men’s golf coach. He added the title of head women’s golf coach in spring 2004.

Spiron is one of only three head coaches in University of Mount Olive history to earn conference coach of the year honors in two different sports. Spiron was named the 2007 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Men’s Golf Coach of the Year and was named Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Coach of the Year three consecutive years in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

During the 2020-21 season, the men's team captured their first Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship and team at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Spiron earned a degree in sports management at Mount Olive after transferring from Division I UNC-Wilmington prior to his junior year. Spiron held the Trojan record for lowest career average until it was broken after the conclusion of the 2010-11 season.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Spiron has served as assistant golf pro at Walnut Creek Country Club and Southern Wayne Country Club.

Spiron and his wife Vanessa are parents of two sons Charlie and Jameson.
