With nearly 10 years of coaching experience, Brianna Franklin enters her first year as head coach at Mount Olive.
Franklin was promoted to head coach at UMO after a brief stint as the interim head coach while previously serving as an assistant coach for the Trojans since April 2022. This year, she aided the UMO Cheerleading Team to the Intermediate Co-Ed Division Conference Carolinas Championship after posting a score of 60.03. Franklin implemented exercise programs, training strategies, and a rigorous practice schedule to prepare for competitions and games. Additionally, she serves as a Cheer & Dance Camp Instructor for the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) in the Southeast Region. Franklin has worked with the organization since 2017 and helps conduct camps with middle school, high school, and college athletes.
Prior to Mount Olive, Franklin served three years as the head junior varsity cheerleading coach at Athens Drive Magnet High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. She directed the program to first-place in the NCCCA State Championship and a second-place finish at the NCHSAA State Invitational in 2020-21. Franklin prepared all game, competition, and practice schedules while maximizing the talent of all individuals in the program. She also assisted with fundraising activities and apparel.
In 2017, she was an All-Star Cheerleading Coach for Biron Elite Cheer in Houston, Texas. The team earned multiple wins, featured national champions, and received bids to the D2 Summit.
Franklin also served as a Hip-Hop Dance Instructor at Lori’s School of Dance in Clinton, North Carolina, from 2014-17. She assisted the program to championships in the Hip-Hop PeeWee, Youth, and Young Adult Divisions. Franklin aided the program in several dance styles, choreographed five dance routines a year, and assisted with costume design.
She started her coaching career as the head coach for the Crusaders Football Association in Jacksonville, North Carolina. While working with the Semi-Pro Program, she planned and directed physical conditioning programs, cultivated community and media relations on social platforms, and arranged all travel activities for the team.
Franklin lettered three years for the Methodist Cheerleading Team from 2015-17 while being a two-time Team MVP and Captain. While competing for the Monarchs, she was a member of the 2015 CANAM National Champions Medium Collegiate Open Division team and the 2017 First-Place Collegiate All-Girl Stunt Group at CANAM Nationals.
She earned her undergraduate degree in marketing with a minor in business administration from Methodist University in 2017. The following year, she completed her master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Maryville University (Mo.).
