Daniel Barrow

Daniel Barrow joined the University of Mount Olive Track and Field staff in August of 2016. Barrow comes to Mount Olive with over 40 years of coaching experience in both track & field as well as football.

Prior to coming to Mount Olive, Barrow was the Assistant Athletic Director, Weight Training & History teacher, Head Football Coach, and Track Coach at Southern Alamance High School in Graham, N.C. from 2007-10. While there he served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Football Coaches Association from 2007-11. Under his tenure, the Patriots won the Track Conference Championship in 2010. He also served as the President of the North Carolina Coaches Association in 2007.

From 1993-2007 Barrow worked at Rosewood High School in Goldsboro, N.C. During his years at Rosewood Barrow served as the Athletic Director, Head Football Coach, Weight Training Teacher, and Head Track Coach. At RHS Barrow went to the NCHS Football playoffs eight times, winning the Conference Championship in 1999, and holds the record for the winningest football coach in school history. He was named the North Carolina Prep Coach of the Year in 1997, the Goldsboro News-Argus Coach of the Year in 2001, and the Conference Coach of the Year in 1999. Barrow was also the Head Coach of the North Carolina Coaches Association East-West Game in 2003.

Under Barrow, the Eagles won the conference championship in track from 1998-2004, won the regional championship from 2000-04, and had a 3rd place finish in the State Championships in 2002. Barrow also had four individual state champions under his guidance. He was also named the conference coach of the year from 1997-2004.

Daniel also served stints at Northeast Guilford High School, Western Guilford High School, and Northern Durham High School from 1980-1993.

In 2010 Barrow retired from the North Carolina Public School system after 30 years.

Barrow gained his bachelor's degree in physical education from Guilford College in 1980. Daniel and his wife Laurie reside in Goldsboro, N.C.
