Kevin Coghill was named head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Mount Olive in the summer of 2010. Coghill is in his third stint at UMO, having graduated from Mount Olive and previously serving as the Trojans’ assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach.

The Trojans had a great 2019 season as they were named the 2019 Conference Carolinas Regular Season Champions and finished as the Tournament Runners-Up. UMO swept all of the Conference postseason honors with Armando Ferreira winning Player of the Year, Milosh Petrovic earning the Freshman of the Year, Martin Moser winning the inaugural Elite 23 Award and Coach Coghill earning his fifth Coach of the Year honor.

Coghill's men's team finished the regular season second in the conference standings with an 8-2 mark against conference opponents while going 13-7 overall. Four of his student-athletes, Armando FerreiraJack Middleton, Martin Moser, and Jose Cortijos Planas, were named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference teams while Ferreira highlighted the year by earning the Player and Freshman of the year titles. Ferreira and partner Middleton collected a 17-2 overall record, one win shy of tying the program record, and an 8-2 conference mark which earned them national recognition by the ITA, ranking as high as 21st in the nation. In addition, Coghill's squad earned several academic accolades as Moser was named to the CoSIDA All-District Academic Team and Sherzod AkramovJacob Clarke, Cortijos Planas, and Moser all earned Conference Carolinas All-Academic team laurels.

2017 proved to be another successful season for Mount Olive men's tennis as they claimed the regular season Conference Carolinas title. Both squads earned ITA Academic Team laurels with team GPA's above 3.20, while 13 of his student-athletes earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete status. Coghill was named 2017 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Coach of the Year. Throughout the season the Trojans collected a 14-4 record going 9-1 against conference opponents. The men also had three honorees on the 2017 All-Conference Carolinas team.

The Trojans made their fourth consecutive run to the NCAA Division II Men's Southeast Regional after they won the 2016 Conference Carolinas Championships by upsetting the #1 seeded Pfeiffer. The team finished their season with a 15-6 overall record and a 9-1 conference tally. Martin Moser, Yannick Stark, and Jose Cortijos were all named to the All-Tournament team with Cortijos earning Most Valuable Player honors.

Coghill has been named Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Coach in each of the last two years and three of the last four years. He not only guided the Trojans to conference championships in 2014 and 2015, but the Trojans went unbeaten in conference play both years.

The Trojans also advanced to the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Southeast Regional in each of the last two years and three times in the last four years. Mount Olive was the No. 6 seed in the 2015 Regional, the Trojans' highest-ever seed.

Mount Olive posted an overall record of 18-4 and a 10-0 conference mark in 2015. The previous year, the Trojans were 18-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play. Mount Olive went a perfect 3-0 in the Conference Carolinas Tournament in both years.

The 2014 season included a school record 15-match winning streak. The 18 wins in 2014 and 2015 match a school record set under Coghill in 2012.

Coghill was named 2012 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Coach of the Year as he guided the Trojans to their first-ever Conference Carolinas Tournament championship and first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Mount Olive won the regular season Conference Carolinas East Division title with a 9-1 record and set a school single-season wins record with an 18-7 mark.

Coghill was an All-Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Men’s Tennis selection during his collegiate playing days. He graduated from Mount Olive with a bachelor’s of science degree in sports management.

He spent two years as the Trojans’ assistant coach and helped the men’s tennis team record an historic milestone. Mount Olive posted a 10-0 conference record in 2005 to become the first Trojan team in any sport to go through regular season conference play unbeaten, a feat the UMO men's tennis team has matched in each of the last two seasons.

The Trojan men’s team was nationally ranked both years Coghill was an assistant and head coach Dr. Burt Lewis was named CVAC Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year both years. Lewis stepped down in 2010 to become chair of the recreation and leisure studies department at Mount Olive.

Coghill left to accept the head tennis coaching position at Charles B. Aycock High School in Goldsboro, N.C., where he earned his own coach of the year awards. Coghill was named the 2008 and 2009 Eastern Carolina Conference Coach of the Year. Coghill was also a physical education teacher at Greenwood Middle School.

Coghill has also served as a tennis professional at Goldsboro Country Club and River Landing.

Coghill is a member of the U.S. Professional Tennis Association.
