Sebastian Andersen Finishes 31st At NCAA II South/Southeast Regional

Sebastian Andersen moved up three spots and finished 31st out of 108 golfers in the South/Southeast Regional of the 2014 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University, concluded Wednesday at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga.

Andersen carded a 74 Wednesday and finished with a 72-78-74--224 for the tournament. He birdied the par-3 fourth hole and was 1-under for the day through five holes. Andersen bogeyed six and seven, but came back with a birdie on the par-4 eighth hole to go out at even par. He had two bogeys and seven pars on the back nine.

Andersen placed first among the eight golfers who competed as individuals without participating teams. He finished 12 strokes off the pace for an individual bid to the National Championship. The three individual bids went to players whose teams competed in the regional, but did not advance.

Tim Crouch of Florida Southern won the individual title by one stroke with a 210. Nationally top-ranked Barry University rallied to win the team title by six shots.

Andersen became the fourth University of Mount Olive student-athlete to earn an individual bid to the NCAA II Men's Golf Regional. The Trojans have also made four NCAA Tournament appearances as a team, including the 2013 NCAA II South/Southeast Regional.
