Earl Graves joined the Trojans in 2017 and was promoted to Director of Track and Field/Cross Country in May of 2019.
Since his arrival has helped coach 52 all-region athletes and 54 all-conference athletes. He has seen 48 school records broken, 12 NCAA qualifying marks reached, 15 conference championships obtained, and 11 NCAA Division II All-Americans honors captured.
Graves came to UMO after spending two years coaching at Alderson Broaddus University where he was an Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach, working with the sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers. In addition to serving as an assistant coach, Graves was a recruiting coordinator and the department's strength and conditioning coordinator.
Prior to his time at Alderson Broaddus, Graves coached at Frostburg State University (2013-15) and Jefferson Forest High School (2009-13).
Graves graduated from Lynchburg College in 2009 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He obtained his Master of Science in Recreation & Parks Management in 2016 from Frostburg State University.
As a student-athlete at Lynchburg, Graves helped the Hornets to seven Old Dominion Athletic Conference team championships while qualifying for the NCAA's four times and winning 10 individual ODAC championships.
Graves also holds the following certifications: USATF Level II Certification: Sprints, Hurdles, & Relays, USATF Level II Certification: Combined Events, USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning Certification, and USATF Level III/IAAF Level V Certification: Sprints (The highest certifications for both organizations).
