Trojans Place 15th at Queen City Invitational

Charlotte — The University of Mount Olive men's cross country team placed 15th at the Queen City Invitational on Friday evening, scoring 399 points in the 8K race hosted by Queens University of Charlotte.

Sophomore Artem Meltsaiev led the Trojans across the finish line with a time of 27:03.6. Kevin Gyurka followed in 27:15.2, while Leo Powell finished in 27:41.3.

Aydan Thompson recorded a time of 28:18.1, while Deacon Parker rounded out Mount Olive's scoring five at 29:10.7.
Evan Hall finished just behind Parker with a time of 29:19.5, followed by Titus Tanui in 30:43.2. Devon Coughlin and Benjamin Bailey completed the Trojan lineup, finishing in 33:04.8 and 33:58.8, respectively.

Mount Olive finished ahead of 10 teams in the 25-team field, with Charlotte claiming the team title with 41 points. North Florida finished second with 44 points, while Marshall placed third with 138 points.

The Trojans continue their season with their next scheduled meet at the Dill Family Foundation meet held by East Carolina on Oct. 2 in Greenville.
