Mount Olive – University of Mount Olive women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision over Francis Marion Wednesday afternoon at home.

The Trojans (4-9) fell behind early after Francis Marion claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, while the tandem of Simone Szovan and Nina Bernier went on to secure a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 spot.

In singles play, the Trojans would pick up two points coming from a pair of strong performances. Szovan picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Bernier earned a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 3, rallying for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win.

Victoria Calle and Julie Jagiella would both put up hard fought matches taking both opponents to three sets, where they would both come up empty handed on the day.

Francis Marion would go on to win straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 6, to secure a 5-2 match victory.

Mount Olive returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. taking on Shaw University.
