Mount Olive Extends Winning Streak to Six After Dominant Doubles Play

Mount Olive – University of Mount Olive men's tennis extends their winning streak to six matches with a 6-1 win at home Wednesday afternoon over Francis Marion. With this win, the Trojans move to 7-0 in conference play.

The Trojans started off strong by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles Kristoffer Dalbak and Bram Poel earned a 6-2 win over Alexandre Frigout and Boris van Ruiten. The No. 2 pair of Niklas Gruenefeldt and Rasmus Grindheim were dominant in their 6-1 victory over Miguel Maia and Viktor Viraghalmi, while Philip Peter Carstensen and Luke Oosthuizen finished the doubles sweep with a 7-5 decision at No. 3.

Mount Olive kept their strong day up winning five of the six matches in singles play. Dalbak would drop his No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-2, while Poel responded by winning both sets 6-2 at No. 2 and would set the tone for the rest of the singles matches. Gruenefeldt delivered at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-3 win, while Grindheim put on a strong performance with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4.

Carstensen earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Hiroma Nishikata would close out the Trojan winning 6-3, 3-1 at No. 6.

Mount Olive will look to extend their winning streak to seven with a home meet against Shaw University scheduled for Saturday April 4th at 1pm.
