Women’s Tennis Falls to Young Harris College, 5-2

MOUNT OLIVE — University of Mount Olive women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Young Harris College Saturday morning at home.

The Trojans (3-6) fell behind early after Young Harris claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, while the Mount Olive tandem of Victoria Calle and Alina Esser secured a 7-6 victory at the No. 2 position.

In singles play, Mount Olive picked up two points highlighted by a pair of strong performances. Calle earned a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2, rallying for an 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 win, while Nina Bernier added a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 3.

Young Harris answered with wins at four singles positions, including straight-set victories at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6, to secure the 5-2 match victory.

Despite the loss, the Trojans showed resilience with competitive play throughout, including a tightly contested three-set battle at the No. 2 spot.

Mount Olive returns to action on the road Tuesday at 2 p.m. against Ferrum College.
