Men’s Tennis Rallies Past Young Harris College, 4-3

MOUNT OLIVE — University of Mount Olive men's tennis earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Young Harris College Saturday morning at home.

The Trojans (4-4) rebounded from dropping the doubles point to secure the win with a strong showing in singles play, claiming four of the six matches.

After Young Harris took a 1-0 lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, the duo of Philip Peter Carstensen and Luke Oosthuizen picked up a 6-4 victory at No. 3 to close out doubles action.


Mount Olive responded in singles, as Niklas Gruenefeldt earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3, while Rasmus Grindheim followed with a 7-5, 7-5 decision at No. 4. The Trojans also clinched on a key three-set victory from Bram Poel at No. 2, who rallied for a 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 win.


Kristoffer Dalbak won his match for Mount Olive at the top position, overcoming a first-set loss to defeat his opponent 3-6, 6-3, 7-6.


Young Harris picked up points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, but the Trojans' depth proved to be the difference in the narrow 4-3 victory.


Mount Olive returns to action on the road Tuesday at 2 p.m. against Ferrum College.
