GREENWOOD, S.C. (Dec. 2) – After facing four opponents in a dual meet competition at the Carolina Clash hosted by Lander, the Trojans posted an undefeated 4-0 record with wins over Frostburg State, No. 21 Glenville State, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Notre Dame (OH) on Saturday.
With the victories, the University of Mount Olive men's wrestling program improves to 6-1 in dual matches and recorded a perfect sweep at the Carolina Clash for the first time in team history.

Mount Olive over Frostburg State, 46-0

Against Frostburg State, the Trojans won all 10 weight classes to post a stellar 46-0 win in the opening dual on Saturday. Junior Lens Mathurin battled to a 13-9 decision over Alex Bellarin at 125 before redshirt junior transfer Timothy Decatur posted a 7-1 decision against Dylan Montgomery in the 133-weight class. In the following match, redshirt sophomore Taylor Robinson (141) won via fall in the second period versus Logan Intrieri and teammate Dallas Wilson registered a dominant 15-0 tech fall over Gage Heilburn at 149. Junior Jake Nicolosi delivered a victory by fall in the 157-weight class against Mason Buckler before redshirt sophomore Aaron Bancroft (165) produced a 13-3 major decision versus Liam DeBaugh. At 174, Calan Staub recorded a first-period pin over Charles Turney and redshirt sophomore Trent Walker followed with a 13-5 major decision against Nick McCarthy in the 184-weight class. Redshirt sophomore Noah Williams (197) captured a win via fall versus William Applegarth before teammate Jayln McClammy finished the dual with a 7-6 decision over Gavin Bage at 285.
Against Glenville State, redshirt freshman Dawson Thompson started with a 54-second fall over Joseph High in the 125-weight class before the Pioneers answered with a 15-0 tech fall at 133. Robinson (141) countered with a third-period pin against Devin Easton before Wilson battled to a 10-9 decision versus Ethan Hardy in the 149-weight class. Glenville State escaped with a 10-9 decision at 157 in a match that featured a pair of nationally ranked-wrestlers. Bancroft (165) responded with a first-period fall over Wiley Houston before the Pioneers tallied back-to-back wins to close the gap to 21-18. The Trojans finished strong the consecutive victories, as Williams secured an 11-4 decision at 197 and McClammy recorded a 7-3 decision at heavyweight.
Against Kentucky Wesleyan, Mathurin (125) registered an impressive 20-6 major decision versus Bryson Rowley before UMO received a forfeit at 133. In the 141-weight class, Robinson delivered a 13-4 major decision over Matthew Velasco and junior Isaiah Olive (149) followed up with a 21-4 tech fall against Will Kenner. Nicolosi answered with a second-period fall versus Cade Johnson in the 157-weight class, but the Panthers responded with a victory via fall at 165. Staub (174) countered with a 19-4 tech fall over Jeremiah Matthews before Walker won by pin at 184 against Shevan Griffith. Williams recorded a 9-2 decision over Drayden McKerrow at 197 and redshirt sophomore Slade Watkins closed the dual with a 3-1 decision versus Robert Ward.
Against Notre Dame, Thompson delivered a fall over Jake Arnold at the 125-weight class before senior Hayden Waddell produced a fall against Alex Cummings at 133 to build a 12-0 advantage. The Falcons countered with a 3-1 decision in the 141-weight class to cut into the deficit before the Trojans collected consecutive wins to hold a 21-3 lead. Wilson (149) battled to a 5-0 decision versus Matthew Kaufmann before Nicolosi received a forfeit at 157. Notre Dame answered with a 6-3 decision in the 165-weight class before Staub (174) was awarded a forfeit. The Falcons closed out the dual meet with three straight victories with two falls and one tech fall, as the Trojans claimed a 27-23 win.
Mount Olive returns to the mat on Sunday, Dec. 10, when it hosts the Trojan Duals at Kornegay Arena, starting at 1 p.m.
