INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 17) – The University of Mount Olive men's wrestling program finished tied for 31st overall in a field of 51 teams at the Midwest Classic on Sunday, which is one of the toughest Division II individual tournaments in the country.
Redshirt sophomore
Dallas Wilson was the only UMO wrestler to advance to the final day of competition for a second straight year in the 149-weight class. Unfortunately, he was forced to medically forfeit the event prior to the start of today's matches. Wilson entered the Midwest Classic as the No. 12 ranked wrestler at 149 and was one of the final 12 individuals in his bracket.
Although the Trojans missed out on the podium this year, Mount Olive still tallied 17 victories while featuring one individual in nine of a possible 10 weight classes.
Mount Olive heads onto winter break for the remainder of the 2023 calendar year before returning to the mat in Kornegay Arena on Saturday, Jan. 6, versus Limestone, starting at noon.
