Trojan Softball Sweeps Elizabeth City State On The Road

Elizabeth City, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team swept a doubleheader against Elizabeth City State University taking game one 12-0 and game two 17-2 Tuesday afternoon. UMO now improves to 24-6 on the season.

GAME ONE INFORMATION
Mount Olive opened the day with a single run in the first off an ECSU error. UMO then went onto shutout the Vikings adding two runs in the second, five in the third, one in the fourth, and three in the fifth; cruising to a 12-0 mercy-rule game.

TROJAN LEADERS
Courtlynn Cooney led the Trojans with four RBI off a 2-4 day.
Hannah Killough (11-4) went three complete earning the win, shutting out ECSU and struck out five.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
In game two UMO cracked opened the offensive can early plating six runs in the first. The Vikings responded early with two in the bottom half; however those were the only runs UMO allowed.

The Trojans blasted home three more runs in the second and eight in the thrid as they once again rolled to a 17-2 mercy-rule win.

TROJAN LEADERS
Kylie Emanuele led UMO with two hits and three RBI in game two.

Lauren King got the win in relief allowing no runs and struck out four.

ON DECK
The Trojans return to Nancy Chapman Cassell Field for a six-game home stand starting Friday March 25 against Erskine College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
