Mount Olive, N.C. --- The University of Mount Olive wrestling dropped their final duals of the 2021-22 season at home Wednesday night against Newberry College and No. 18 UNC Pembroke. UMO now goes to 8-8, 2-5 on the season. It was also senior night for Kevin Saravia, who was honored between the duals.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
Mount Olive began the day against Newberry, taking two matches in the 141 (Spencer Leonhardt, Dec 9-6) and 157 (Jake Nicolosi, Tech Fall 16-0). The Trojans, however, ultimately fell 31-8 against the Wolves.
UMO completed the night against nationally ranked UNC Pembroke, falling 33-6. Mount Olive won the 141 (Leonhardt Major 19-8) and the 157 match (Nicolosi Dec. 6-3) and trailed 11-7 after the 157 match, but unfortunately could not turn a positive result for the remainder of the dual.
Leonhardt and Nicolosi were the sole Trojans to score in either dual for Mount Olive.
