FLORENCE, South Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's tennis team defeated Francis Marion in a close matchup 4-3 in non-conference action Friday afternoon in Florence, SC.
MATCH INFORMATION
The Trojans held the early lead after the doubles round winning doubles 2, 1 and 3. UMO then won four singles sets with UMO's Ece Yuskel clinching the No. 3 match set to help the Trojans take home the 4-3 victory.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
No. 2 Ingrid Montero/Deike Schipper and No.1 Liza Voloshyna/Nele Weber both made quick work of their opponents both winning 6-2. Arianna Orozco and Bipasha Mehn picked up the win in the No. 3 match downing their foes 6-4 to earn the doubles point.
In singles action, UMO won the No. 4, 5, and 3 bouts while Patriots took the 1, 2, and 6 win, to split the singles games.
Hermon Mikael won at No.1 over Liza Voloshyna in two sets (1-6,6-4). Ingrid Montero , who played in the No. 4 singles wins over Yakhyaeva in with a clean sweep (6-2,6-1), and Ece Yuskel rounded out the Trojans singles wins in three sets clinching the match point to take the 4-3 victory.
