WILSON, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's tennis team defeated Barton College 5-2 in Conference Carolinas action Tuesday afternoon in Wilson, N.C.
MATCH INFORMATION
The Trojans led the doubles round winning doubles 1 and 2 to earn the doubles point. UMO then went 4-2 in the singles matches taking a 5-2 victory.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
No. 1 Liza Voloshyna/Nele Weber and No. 3 Arianna Orozco/Bipasha Mehn made quick work of their opponents winning 6-1 and 6-2 to earn the doubles point.
In singles action, UMO won the No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 matches while the Bulldogs took No. 1 and 2 to take the singles games.
Arianna Orozco won at No. 4 singles (6-3,6-1) for the first singles point. No. 3 Ece Yuksel took down Grace McCartney (6-4,6-1) for the second singles point. Bipasha Mehn then picked up the third singles point at No. 6 winning (6-2,6-1). Bulldogs Marissa Stevenson defeated No.1 Ingrid Montserrat in three sets( 2-6,7(7)-6(4)). Deike Schipper won at No. 5 (4-6,7-5,6-0) to pick up the last singles point for the Trojans. Lasty, Eimear Maher fought hard and won over Trojans Nele Weber (6-4,5-7,2-6) at the No. 2 singles match.
