Trojans Sweep Emmanuel on the Road

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - Mount Olive softball hit the road this weekend. Taking on Emmanuel College Friday afternoon. The Trojans swept the doubleheader, winning game one 7-1, and game two, 12-0, respectively. 

GAME ONE INFORMATION
The Trojans' Mallory Ratcliff got the start in the circle for game one. Coming out swinging, the Trojans scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Cana Shrock ripped a single to left field scoring one, followed by an error by the left fielder, scoring a second run. Hannah Burress stepped in the batters box next. She sent a shot over the left field wall, increasing the Trojans lead to 4-0 through one inning. Ratcliff hit the first batter she faced, then forced the following batter into a groundout double-play, and struck out the third batter to end the inning. Megan Bryant led off the second inning for the Trojans, singling to the pitcher, then stealing second base. Bryant was sent home courtesy of an Emma Mooney single to center field, putting the Trojans up 5-0. 

In the fifth inning, the Trojans offense struck again. With the bases loaded, a passed ball scored Cassandra Lassiter, extending their lead to 6-0. In the top of the seventh inning, the Trojans added another insurance run, putting them up 7-0. Through six innings Ratcliff had only allowed three hits. She allowed two more hits and one run to score in the bottom of the seventh, but closed out a successful day in the circle, sealing the Trojans win, 7-1. 

KEY MOMENT
The Trojans scored four runs to begin the game. Putting them ahead and going on to win the game, 7-1. 

TROJANS LEADERS
Hannah Burress collected one hit and two RBI.

LIONS LEADERS
Kaylan Pruitt had two hits and one RBI.

GAME TWO INFORMATION
With two runners on in the top of the first inning, Kylie Emanuele plated the first run of the inning with a double to left field. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Hannah Killough put a ball in play leading to an error by the right fielder and scoring three more Trojans. Giving Mount Olive another 4-0 lead after one inning. In the next inning, Cassandra Lassiter singled to right field scoring Emma Mooney. One batter later Emanuele hit her second RBI double of the day, extending the Trojans lead to 6-0 through two innings. 

In the top of the fourth inning starting pitcher Hannah Killough continued to help her own cause, sending a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Courtlynn Cooney. With two runners on base, Ashley Mick scored two more Trojans with an RBI single to center field. Giving the Trojans a 9-0 lead. Through four innings Hillough only allowed two hits. After the top of inning five where the Trojans added three more runs, Killough trotted out to the circle to close things down. She allowed two walks but struck out batters for all three of the outs. The Trojans won in five innings, 12-0. 

KEY MOMENT
The Trojans scored another four runs in the first inning. Giving them a four-run cushion, playing the rest of the game with ease, going on to win, 12-0. 

TROJANS LEADERS
Kylie Emanuele collected three RBI. Over five innings Hannah Killough only allowed two hits while striking out six.

LIONS LEADERS
Sadie Worth earned a walk during the game.

ON DECK
The Trojans travel to South Carolina for a doubleheader against Erskine College on Saturday, March 20th, at one and three pm.
