Box Score 2 Christie Wright tossed a complete game four-hitter, but a two-out run in the bottom of the first was the difference as the Mount Olive fell to Florida Southern 1-0 in game one of a non-conference softball doubleheader Wednesday at Lakeland, Fla. Wright did not give up any extra-base hits and allowed only two hits after the first inning.
The Trojans fell 9-7 in the nightcap as Florida Southern used a six-run fourth inning to rally from a 6-2 deficit. Robbin Kennedy went 3-for-4 for Mount Olive and singled home a pair of runs in a five-run second inning. The Trojans drew 10 bases on balls in the game.
Mount Olive (11-7) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first in game two as Kayla Voorhees drew a leadoff walk and stole second. She went to third on a groundout and scored on an errant pickoff attempt. Florida Southern (13-2) used a pair of infield singles to help push two runs across the plate in the bottom of the first. Brittany Martin drove in the first run with a single to center and Sam Gale's sacrifice fly brought in an unearned to put the Moccasins on top.
Voorhees' two-out rbi-single ignited the Trojans' second-inning rally. A walk to Danielle Mitchell loaded the bases and Katie Moore drew a walk to put the Trojans on top 3-2. Kennedy's single to center brought home Mitchell and Moore, and after a pitching change, Wright walked to load the bases again. Overman, who led off the inning with a walk and scored the Trojans' first run of the frame, drew another walk to extend Mount Olive's lead to 6-2.
Mount Olive had a chance to add to its lead in the top of the fourth as Moore and Kennedy both singled with one out and Overman drew her third walk of the game one out later to load the bases. But Moccasin pitcher Lauren Wolfe (3-1) got out of trouble with a strikeout.
In the bottom of the fourth, an error and a double steal set up Dayna Hunn's two-run single to pull Florida Southern within 6-4. After the Moccasins loaded the bases with one out, Moore threw a runner out at the plate on a ground ball to second. But Florida Southern took the lead for good when three runs scored on Randi Grimes's two-run single and a Trojan throwing error. Grimes scored on Martin's single to give the Moccasins an 8-6 lead.
After Florida Southern scored again in the bottom of the fifth, Mount Olive answered with a run in the top of the seventh as Kennedy and Wright both walked to start the inning. After a force out at third, pinch-hitter Katie Devenuto singled Wright home. Florida Southern reliever Christine Clark took over and halted the threat with back-to-back strikeouts. Kennedy reached on an error with two outs in the seventh, but Clark ended the game with a groundout to pick up the save.
Trojan starter Carly White (2-2) retired eight of 10 batters early in the game before running into trouble in the fourth.
In the first game, Mount Olive had five hits to outhit Florida Southern, but Moccasin pitcher Christine Clark (8-1) did not allow a runner past second base. Katie Moore went 2-for-3 for Mount Olive.

Florida Southern capitalized on a two-out walk in the first for the lone run of the game. After Grimes advanced to second, she came home on Martin's single to center.
