Carlos Lora

Carlos Lora was named the head coach of the University of Mount Olive men's and women's tennis teams in December of 2021.

"Both of these programs have had a high reputation of having a culture of excellence over the past several years and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with a great group of men and women".

Lora comes to UMO from Purdue University, where he was an assistant coach for the women's tennis team. He specialized in film analysis and breakdowns, as well as community engagement, while assisting with all the activities as related with the day-to-day operations of the program. 

He started his coaching career in Danville, Va., serving as the Assistant Men's and Women's Tennis Coach for three years at Averett University under former Mount Olive Assistant Coach Bert Poole.

During his time at Averett, Lora assisted one Cougar to the individual NCAA Championship tournament, had a player earn ITA/UTR National Player of the Week, and worked with the 2018-19 conference player of the year who achieved a career high national ranking of #21. He also had five players on both the men's and women's teams named all-conference in his first year, with three earning first-team honors.

He also has previously been a staff tennis coach at the Peter Howell Tennis Camps in Atlanta, Ga from 2016-18.

Lora played collegiately at Averett University in Danville, Va., while receiving his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. He later earned his Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership at Averett.
