UMO Earns 6-3 Victory Over Belmont Abbey On Senior Day

Mount Olive, N.C. – On the Trojans' senior day, the University of Mount Olive women's tennis team finished the regular season with a win over Belmont Abbey College, 6-3, on Tuesday evening at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center in Mount Olive, N.C.

  • The Trojans opened the match with a pair of victories in doubles.
  • Senior Stella Di Michele and sophomore Julie Gonzalez-Rodriguez captured an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while senior Alejandra Hernandez and freshman Areej Fareh earned an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.
  • UMO captured the match win by earning victories at No. 1 through No. 4 singles.
  • Di Michele grabbed a comeback win at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, while Gonzalez-Rodriguez pushed past her opponent at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
  • Hernandez powered past her opponent at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4, and Fareh earned a 6-4, 7-6 triumph at No. 4 singles.


  • The Trojans honored seniors Stella Di Michele and Alejandra Hernandez. This season, Di Michelle is 9-5 in singles action and 13-1 in doubles competition, while Hernandez has amassed an 11-3 record in singles and a 7-6 mark in doubles.

Mount Olive is next in action April 21 through 23 as the Trojans compete in the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Tournament at the Sumter Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
