Women's Golf Finishes 12th At Armstrong State Pirate Classic

After opening the day in 10th place, University of Mount Olive finished 12th out of 16 teams in the Armstrong State Women's Golf Pirate Classic at Savannah, Ga. The 36-hole tournament, which featured eight nationally ranked teams, concluded Tuesday.

Julie Loennechen was the Trojans' low scorer, carding a 77-79--156 to tie for 38th out of 85 golfers. Julia Kaeding was a stroke behind and tied for 43rd with a 77-80--157. Anne Barboteau (81-80--161) and Denise Dange (79-82--161) tied for 54th, while Stefany King (85-90--175) finished 78th.

Mount Olive finished with a team score of 314-321--635 to place four shots behind 11th place UNC Pembroke. First round leader Nova Southeastern (Fla.) held on for a four-stroke win.

Mount Olive is back in action next week as the Trojans travel to Hilton Head Island, S.C., to compete in the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational. The tournament begins play Monday and concludes Tuesday.
