Poole Earns Second Consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor

Mount Olive, N.C. --- Robert Poole a senior outside hitter on the University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team was named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America Association (CoSIDA) members. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. 

This is Poole's second All-District honor as he was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team last season. He was then named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American team in 2017. Poole was the only men's volleyball student-athlete represented on the District 3 At-Large team that is composed of the following sports; tennis, golf, swimming, lacrosse, volleyball, and wrestling.

Poole's senior season was capped with honors as he was named the 2018 Conference Carolinas Murphy Osborne Winner, earned a spot on the men's volleyball First-Team All-Conference Carolinas as well as the Conference Carolinas All-Academic team.

The Enfield, England native led the team in kills (321), kills per set (3.28), service aces (73), service aces per set (.74), points (417.5), and points per game (4.30). Poole led the nation and conference in service aces and was fourth in the conference in kills and kills per set.

Poole leaves UMO as the career leader in service aces (180) and second in program kills with 1,000 in his career. The Trojans finished the regular season third in the conference standings, 16-13 (11-5), earning them an appearance in the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship tournament.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with teams to be announced in June.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes from eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division.
