Men's Golf Takes 9th At Elon Phoenix Invitational

Nick Adams led the University of Mount Olive with the third lowest 18-hole score in Mount Olive history as the Trojans took 9th out of 16 teams at the Elon Phoenix Men's Golf Invitational at Alamance Country Club Tuesday in Burlington, N.C. Mount Olive was one of two non NCAA Division I teams.

Adams (75-75-68-218) carded nine birdies on his scorecard in the tournament to help him finish tied for 16th out of 92 golfers. His final round moved him into third place in the lowest 18-hole score and eighth place in the lowest 54-hole score in Mount Olive history.  John Thatch (80-71-71-222) tied for 31st and took over ninth place in the lowest 54-hole score in the men's golf record book. 

Brady Hollenbacher (75-81-72-228) tied for 50th, and Liam McAnally (76-78-77-231) tied for 65th to round out the scoring for Mount Olive. Harry Bayley (83-73-83-239) had two eagles in his second round scorecard and finished tied for 84th.

Mount Olive (306-297-288--891) moved up one spot from the first day and the final round card of 288 took over sixth place in the lowest 54-hole score in the Mount Olive record book. The Trojans finished ahead of six Division I schools; Presbyterian College, Western Carolina, Wright State, High Point, Binghamton, and Savannah State. East Carolina led the pack and won the team championship and Adam Ball from VCU took the individual title.

Mount Olive completes the fall season with a trip down to Orlando, Fla. to play in the McDonough Cup hosted by Rollins College October 27.
