Trojans Finish Ninth At Kiawah Island Invitational

University of Mount Olive placed ninth out of 18 teams in the Kiawah Island Men's Golf Invitational at Kiawah Island, S.C. The Trojans finished only seven shots out of a fourth-place tie. The 36-hole tournament, which began Monday and concluded Tuesday, featured 10 teams that were either ranked in the Top 25 or received votes in the Bushnell Golfweek Division II Preseason Poll

Mount Olive, which entered its fall season opener as the 41st highest vote-getter in the preseason, carded a team score of 295 in Monday's first round and shot a 299 Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 594. Tournament host and nationally third-ranked USC Aiken won with a 573.

Nick Adams (72-74—146) tied for 17th out of 89 golfers, Liam McAnally (73-75—148) tied for 25th, Brady Hollenbacher (74-76—150) tied for 34th, Harry Bayley (79-74--153) tied for 54th and Sebastian Andersen (76-79—155) tied for 63rd.

Mount Olive returns to the greens next week as the Trojans travel to St. Augustine, Fla., to compete in the Jay Jennison Invitational, hosted by Flagler University. The 54-hole tournament opens Monday and concludes Tuesday.
