UMO Men's Golf Teams Place Ninth And 10th At "The Trojan"


Nick Adams finished eighth out of 69 golfers at "The Trojan" men's golf tournament, hosted by University of Mount Olive. UMO's "A" squad finished ninth and the Trojan "B" squad placed 10th out of 13 teams in the 54-hole tournament, which concluded Tuesday at Walnut Creek Country Club in Goldsboro, N.C.

Adams shot three birdies in the final round, two birdies coming on par-3 holes. He shot even par in each of the final two rounds, finishing with a 74-72-72--218. Adams finished seven shots out of the lead.

Jesus Valderrama eagled the par-4 10th hole and carded a 2-under-par 70 Tuesday. Valderrama finished 15th with a 74-77-70--221.

Liam MacAnally (69-83-75--227) and John Thatch (80-73-74--227) tied for 37th with the Trojans' third lowest 54-hole scores. MacAnally and Thatch both played on the "B" squad.

Mount Olive "A" carded a team score of 302-303-293--898. Only seven shots separated the fourth through ninth place teams.

Limestone topped the team leaderboard with a 285-295-282--862. The Saints' Griffin Brown topped the individual leaderboard with a 70-73-68--211.

"The Trojan" was Mount Olive's regular season finale. The Trojans compete in the 2015 Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Championship May 19-21 at Greensboro, N.C.
